Mini Paceman 2023: Meet the next electric SUV

Mini Paceman 2023: Announced for a concept in July of last year, Mini Cooper's upcoming small electric SUV has just been blown away by spy photographers for the first time.

Since December 2021, it's hard to be surprised by the future Mini. While the prototypes in development are traditionally well camouflaged by manufacturers, stripping away the zebra paint gradually, the next “Cooper” was released in its simplest form, two years in advance!

Until its official presentation, the various launches of the future electric city car will not receive the same attention. Fortunately, this little 5-door isn't the only new Mini for years to come. Between it and the more imposing countryman (4.29 m), the English brand, now co-owned by BMW and China's Great Wall Motor, is planning another model. An urban SUV, of course, already well unveiled by the Aceman concept presented at the end of the summer.

Closer to the showcar than the actual concept, the study was therefore quite realistic. This is confirmed by the photos sent by our image hunters. We can see this future Aceman (or Paceman) - we don't know if that name will be kept - in a pickup truck with other BMW prototypes.

The opportunity to assert the small change in style as well as the decidedly compact size desired by the brand. Like the July concept, which announced 4.05m in length, the production version would become the smallest of the 100% electric crossovers, the Peugeot e-2008 and other Hyundai Kona Electrics measuring around 4.20m.

Because unlike the Mini Hatch and its older brother Countryman, this Aceman should only be available in “zero emissions”. However, technical data has not yet been revealed. Expect batteries between 40 and 50 kWh for powers between 180 and 230 hp. Scheduled for 2023, this small SUV should get the better of the Clubman, this small van (4.27 m), historic Mini body, but whose success in esteem no longer justifies its presence in the range.
