New 2023 Honda Civic Type R Could Be a Sedan

The New Honda Civic Type R is one of the most anticipated cars, but what if the automaker also offered it in the form of a sports sedan?

So in this story you will see independent speculative illustrations of a Honda Civic Type R Sedan. The model is fictional and was created by Theottle, but is not yet listed or endorsed by the Honda brand.

Automotive designer Theottle answered that question with a set of renders, pairing the Type R's aggressive bodykit with the Civic sedan's four-door silhouette.

The digital conversion started by adding the Type R's front end to a Civic sedan, which is easy to do as both body variants share the same front structure.

The next big step included version-specific alloy wheels, with bigger brakes and aero extensions on the sides.

The slightly trickier part is the wider front and rear fenders to cover the wider front and rear tracks.

While the front fenders are the same between the hatchback and sedan, the rear fenders needed new molding as the four-door model sports a larger rear overhang.

The same applies to the rear bumper, which needs to be revised to adopt the same style with false side intakes and a large diffuser housing a trio of tailpipes.

Another highlight of the conversion is the rear wing, again needing modifications to suit the different slant of the incredible sedan's tailgate.

Ultimately the end result looks pretty convincing, although as noted by the digital artist, this real-life conversion would be more challenging as the bespoke body panels would need a lot of work.

We still don't know if there will be any brave enough to sacrifice a Civic Type R hatchback to make this Type R sedan version custom, but for Honda such a move is highly unlikely.

With some information, we can see that Honda has offered a Civic Type R sedan in the past, but only once.

The four-door Type R FD2 was offered exclusively in Japan from year 2007 to year 2011, based on the eighth generation Civic, while the rest of the world received the five-door FN2 variant.

Rivals for this fictional new 2023 Honda Civic Type R sedan would already include the Subaru Impreza WRX and Hyundai Elantra N. 2.0 liter turbo. engine and FWD layout.
