New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV 2023 went on sale

Mitsubishi has released some additional details about the new Outlander PHEV 2023, even before its release in the United States in November.

So, starting under the hood of the car, the crossover has a plug-in hybrid engine consisting of:

  • A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine;
  • Two electric motors and a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Finally, the electric motors are more powerful than their predecessors and this allows the crossover to have a combined power of 248 hp (185 kW / 251 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque.

Most importantly, however, the larger battery increases the range from 24 miles (39 km) to 38 miles (61 km).

We can soon see that this is a substantial improvement and means that many owners can have an emissions- and pollutant-free journey.

Outlander PHEV's fast charge draws a lot of attention

When the battery runs low, owners can get an 80% charge in approximately 38 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Mitsubishi noted that the Outlander PHEV is the "only non-luxury branded plug-in hybrid in the US to offer fast charging".

So while most homeowners will probably load at home with tier 1 and tier 2 settings.

Drivers with longer journeys will be happy to know that the crossover has a 14.8-gallon gas tank, or about 56 liters.

As such, this increases the overall range to 676 km, 161 km more than its predecessor.

The all-wheel drive crossover will launch in select markets this fall before being offered nationwide.

Additional details will be released closer to launch, but Mitsubishi has confirmed that pricing for the seven seats will start at US$ 39,845.
