Peugeot e-RCZ: An electric star for you to meet

Sold from 2010 to 2015 with just under 70,000 units, the Peugeot RCZ impressed. Profitability and globalization got the better of this shock coupe. We envision an electric replacement that, at little cost, could have been the star of the Paris Motor Show 2022.

In 2016, at the Geneva Motor Show, the DS brand cleverly recycled the tricolor electric sports car Furtive-eGT that was presented by the Exagon Motors brand at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Named the DS E-Tense, this green car is doubly so, both for its watts propulsion and for the color of its bodywork. This propulsion totaled 400 hp and sent it from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 s.

The story could have ended there and the DS E-Tense wisely joined the aisles of a museum after passing through the Paris Motor Show in the fall of 2016.

Act 2, in February 2022, with a restyled version of the concept called the DS E-Tense Performance claiming 815 hp, all-wheel drive and 0-100 km/h in 2s. It will be shown at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, twelve years after the Exagon from which it derives, a fine example of longevity.

Restyle a concept because it's quite rare or even very unusual. At best, a fair prototype changes color from one event to another. As an example, the Peugeot Exalt – which announced the second generation Peugeot 508 at the time – was gray and red in Beijing 2014. It became light gray and dark gray at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and finally Chinese blue in 2016.

Closer to us, the Renaut Scenic Vision, presented last May, in black, will be repainted for the World Cup in Paris, where it will have its first crowd shower.

In this search for recycling the concept, we can imagine a third life for the DS E-Tense. The racing car will then pass under the Peugeot flag with the new lion brand muzzle and a stern in the spirit of the very aggressive Peugeot 408.

Dubbed the Peugeot e-RCZ, it would then be the ideal candidate to replace the RCZ-R , which left the scene without an heir in 2015. The Peugeot RCZ was also the last sports coupe.
