Fiat 600 (2024): The replacement for the small SUV 500X

Don't bury the Fiat 500X yet! After more than 10 years in the catalogue, it will be replaced in 2025 by the Fiat 600. The latter will also replace the Fiat Tipo. Half urban SUV, half compact sedan, it will clearly shift gears.

Integrated with the giant Stellantis, Fiat will take the e-CMP platform off the shelf – that of the Peugeot 2008 among others – to build a replacement for the 500X SUV. The latter launched in 2014 and restyled twice, in 2018 and then in 2021, with the arrival of a convertible variant, comes from the Jeep Renegade with which it shares its FCA Small Wide technical base.

The new version will see big things with a bigger size, characterized by a 15 cm stretch bringing its length to around 4.40 m.

The underlying idea is to replace the 500X to kill two birds with one stone. First, assume this 500 has entered adventurer mode. Secondly, replacing the Fiat Tipo also becoming the compact sedan of the range.

In fact, the retro-chic look of the 500 is far more appealing than that of the Tipo, with a style very close to the conquests reserved for distant markets (Asia, South America) and whose surname no longer evokes much, except for the owners of the first work released in the late 1980s and again.

With that in mind, the Fiat 500X will become the Fiat 600. This number clearly indicates this format change that was introduced in 1965 by the Fiat 600 (Type 100) see our photo gallery.

An industrial logic that will also be shared by the Jeep Renegade, whose next version will grow to give a little free rein to the “baby” Jeep, called Avenger. However, the arrival in concession of this Fiat 600 until 2025, the 500X will resist and thus justify its reformulation of last year.

This Fiat 600 will thus be more comfortable and will offer more cargo volume with a well-studied price positioning like that of the Citroën ë-C4, C4 and C4-X that are placed between the B and CA Fiat will change to 100% electric in 2030.

So while you wait for that watted change, partially electrified thermal proposals will round out the Fiat 600e with two potential candidates for gasoline units, PSA's 1.2 PureTech or Fiat's 1.5 Firefly.
