Ford GT: Find out more about the end of its career

Ford will end production of its GT supercar with an LM limited series commemorating the Ford GT40 and GT victories at the 1966-2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. supercar launched in 2016 to perpetuate the lineage of the GT40 (1964) and GT (2005).

This edition has been dubbed the GT LM, like Le Mans, and honors the famous triples of the GT40 in the overall standings of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as the category victory of a Ford GT at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016 in the GTE Pro class. .

The coupe sports a Liquid Silver gray body color. Its sills, which reveal the braiding of its carbon fiber, can be dyed blue or red to echo the racing GTs of 2016. The mirror pillars and engine cover receive the same finish. The rims are unpainted carbon fiber.

Carbon is also ubiquitous in the cabin, which has an Alcantara coating that contrasts with the leather covering the dashboard. The driver's seat benefits from red upholstery when everything else is black, the blue or red stitching echoing the exterior details.

The passenger-facing numbered plate was made by 3D printing the crankshaft of the Ford GT. He finished 3rd in the GTE Pro category at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. Under the hood of the GT LM we find the 669 hp 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6.

This LM follows the Heritage editions and therefore brings the number of special editions of the last generation of the Ford GT to ten, not counting the 700 hp GT Mk. II reserved for the circuit and limited to 45 units. Initially, Ford planned to produce just 500 GT. The craze for the model led the blue oval company to increase that number to 1,000 and then to 1,350 units over the years. The latest third-generation Ford GT is due to leave Multimatic workshops in late 2022.

These Canadian racing experts will continue their collaboration with Ford working on the Mustang GT3 announced for 2024. It's the famous Sarthe endurance race, but this time based on the “pony car”.
